America’s Got Talent Season 18 returned on Tuesday night for the final episode of auditions, as dance group Chibi Unity earned the group Golden Buzzer from all four judges and host Terry Crews. The night also featured several weird acts that the judges rejected.

Chibi Unity Earns Group Golden Buzzer on AGT

Throughout the season, we’ve seen acts earn the Golden Buzzer from each of the four judges and from Terry Crews. We even saw an audience-chosen Golden Buzzer. But we’ve been waiting for weeks to see the group Golden Buzzer.

On Tuesday night, dance group Chibi Unity took the stage. The dancers, who are from Japan, dressed in matching outfits to perform an intense dance routine that had the audience and judges mesmerized. The group received a standing ovation.

Howie Mandel said Chibi Unity “took it to another level” with their performance, while Heidi Klum called them “unexpected.” Sofia Vergara said the routine gave her goosebumps, calling it “the perfect AGT audition.” Simon Cowell described them as “so powerful, so original, so incredible.”

That’s when Cowell suggested that they all join forces to hit the Golden Buzzer and send Chibi Unity straight to the live shows. It was an inspiring moment to mark the end of this season’s audition round.

We’ve seen so many auditions this season that Tuesday’s episode felt like it featured some of the leftovers once all the incredible performances had already been shown. Several acts on this week’s episode were rejected by the judges.

One of the most ridiculous acts of the night was Josh Alfred, who showed up not once, not twice, but three times (in various outfits and hairstyles) to perform less-than-impressive talents. First it was speed-reading, then it was lightning-fast rapping, and then it was terrible magic tricks.

He received several red buzzers throughout his three performances, but by the end of things, Cowell actually seemed to like him. He was the only judge to vote “yes” to sending Josh through. But at this rate, we honestly wouldn’t be surprised if he shows up again later in the season.

Meanwhile, the AGT judges were split on an act called Improv Everywhere, which basically created a flash mob in the middle of the auditorium. Vergara was able to predict that the act wasn’t what it seemed, and Howie Mandel wondered how they would keep surprising everyone in future performances. They didn’t go through.

This Was the Final Week of Auditions

Luckily, this week’s show did feature several impressive auditions to finish off the round. The judges were amazed by Morgan and Roxi, an aerial duo who used their teeth and hair to hang from the ceiling. Titos Tsai’s sword act was also mesmerizing.

Magician Kevin Li also brought a fun and nostalgic act to the stage, at one point pulling a popcorn kernel out of his eye. He finished his routine by turning several photos of the judges and host into pictures of them when they were little kids.

There’s only one episode left before the live shows kick off on August 22. The show will then move to two nights a week, with the first results show airing on August 23. Will your favorite acts make it through? You’ll have to wait and see.
